The Resurrection of Jesus Christ changed everything. The cowering disciples stood up and eventually went to every nation they could get too, once they saw Jesus and accepted his Great Commission. It also changes everything for us if we believe him.
Jesus once said:
John 11:25-26 (ESV):
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life.[a] Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
After this statement, Jesus demonstrated the truth of what he just said by raising Lazarus from the dead. But more so, the resurrection of Jesus on Resurrection Sunday sealed the truth of his teaching by continuing to appear before folks. The statement is even a promise to us; confirming that we can be resurrected and continue to live for all eternity. If we believe him and accept him as our Lord and savior.
Meanwhile, Jesus had repeatedly told his disciples that he was going to die but would rise again on the third day. But that did not square with their understanding of what the Messiah was supposed to do. See the following scriptures where Jesus did tell them of his coming death and resurrection: Matthew 16:21, 17:22-23, 20:17-19; Mark 8:31; Luke 9:22; John 10:17-18, 20:9.

Matthew 28: 2-4 (ESV):
2 And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. 4 And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men.
It is the women disciples who went to the tomb early and were the first to encounter the risen Lord.
Matthew 28: 1, 5-10 (ESV):
Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb.
5 But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he[a] lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.” 8 So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”

11 But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb. 12 And she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet. 13 They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.” 14 Having said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” 16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him in Aramaic,[a] “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher). 17 Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” 18 Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”—and that he had said these things to her.
But early Sunday morning when the women came back and told the disciples that the tomb was empty and that they saw Jesus, the rest of the disciples were not ready to accept the possibility that Jesus had actually risen from the grave. Even if he had told them that he would rise again on the third day. They had to see Jesus for themselves to eventually believe.

And although there were so many, the net was not torn. 12 Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” Now none of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. 13 Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish. 14 This was now the third time that Jesus was revealed to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.

Jesus continued to appear to folks down through history into our own time. In the last few year, thousands of Muslims have testified that they became Christians after Jesus appeared to them. Many in Iran and hundreds last month in Gaza. I personally know many people that Jesus has appeared to in this generation, including a former pastor of mine and even one of my sons. Last of all, he has appeared to me and I have talked to him on two occasions. So I can truly say:
I know that my redeemer lives!
I know that I will see Him again when I pass from this life, or if He comes back soon, I will meet Him in the air along will all of you who believe.
