46 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.

Selah.

4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

6 The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

7 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.

Selah.

8 Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth.

9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.

Selah.  (KJV)

Our Father,

In our quiet times in prayer we feel your presence and know that you are God; your Holy Spirit dwells within us and stills our fears and gives us confidence in the face of disaster. You are the Lord of hosts and the God of Jacob who is with us; you are our fortress, our refuge, and our strength.

Even when the ‘big one’ comes and the earth falls away we know that you are in control and have a plan for us. When the winds blow and bring destruction you are still on the throne and we are part of your family through faith in Jesus Christ. When the waves roar over the walls your word is still true and preserved within our hearts.

You will be exalted in all creation, the Word of your Kingdom will go forth to every land and your Son will be praised in every nation and among every people. The nations may rage, the kingdoms may totter and the inhabitants of the earth may hide in fear as the earth melts.

But you dwell among your people and your Kingdom is a reality in our midst and your Son is coming with the hosts of Heaven and we shall all be caught up with all believers to meet him in the clouds. You are the Lord of hosts and the God of Jacob who is with us and our fortress, our refuge, and our strength. Praise your name and the name of your Son forever.

In Jesus name, Amen.
