A Psalm of David
23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. (KJV)
Our Father,
We thank you for sending your Son Jesus as a shepherd to save us in this life and show us the way of salvation for all eternity. We are thankful also for your Holy Spirit that guides us every day and counsels us when we are in need and enlightens us as we read your word and gives us the very things that we need to pray about.
Thanks for giving us vision and for lightening our burden along the path that you are guiding us in. You give us rest and peace in the midst of the attacks of the enemy and his minions who are pressing against us trying to destroy and enslave us. You give us hope when our way is blocked and make a path for us around the walls that the enemy has built.
You give us joy even in the midst of despair and resolve when there seems to be no way out and confidence that you will protect us when our troubles have found us and are closing in. You provide us with everything we need right in the face of our enemy.
Your word and promises last for all eternity and stand against anything that the enemy can bring against us in this life and the life to come.
Praise your name Father God and the name of your Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit which graces our lives every moment of every day. Praise your name Lord, may we dwell in your house and presence forever.
In Jesus name, Amen.
