A Psalm of David
131 Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me.
2 Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child.
3 Let Israel hope in the Lord from henceforth and for ever. (KJV)
Our Father,
We cry for our nation that our people would once more find their hope in you and your Son Jesus and not in the economy, the armed forces, nor in the divided political system.
By your Holy Spirit we come before you humbled and we see our weaknesses and we see that our only real hope is in you today and for all eternity. Nothing that the world can give us really satisfies our longing and our long term happiness and security.
But through our faith alone in your Son Jesus Christ we can boldly come before you in prayer and in complete assurance that our salvation is secure in this life and the life to come.
Praise your name Lord and praise your Son Jesus; and your Holy Spirit which is our helper and brings us peace and hope in the midst of a world which doesn’t have any. Thank you for your presence in our lives.
In Jesus name, Amen.
