Jonah 2
2 Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish’s belly,
2 And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.
3 For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.
4 Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.
5 The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.
6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O Lord my God.
7 When my soul fainted within me I remembered the Lord: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.
8 They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the Lord.
10 And the Lord spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land. (KJV)
Our Father,
Jonah was cast into the sea and from the belly of a great fish he prayed and you responded. He had rebelled against you and your purposes; yet you saved him and delivered him to dry land and gave him another chance.
Thank You for this example from your Word. It gives us real hope and expectation regardless of our circumstances; even if we have not been faithful to you and have rebelled. While we yet have breath and still live; you are ready to help us when we turn back to you and ask for forgiveness and salvation. Thank you Lord.
Lord, we pray for the church in America. May it arise from its sleep and respond to your Holy Spirit once more and fulfill the destiny you have for us. Let the prodigals return and a new generation find faith in your Son Jesus. Let the Christians in America receive a new revival rather than judgment we deserve; while there is yet day.
Lord, we also pray now for America. It is time for our entire nation, which is supposed to be ‘under God,’ to turn back to you and receive your grace and salvation. We ask for new awakening and a change of heart for all of our people from sea to shining sea.
We also pray for a great revival and harvest for all nations and peoples. May your Gospel and the Good News of your Son and Kingdom be preached in every language with signs and miracles following.
In Jesus name, Amen.
