Proverbs 17:1-10

17 Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.

2 A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren.

3 The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the Lord trieth the hearts.

4 A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.

5 Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.

6 Children’s children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.

7 Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.

8 A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.

9 He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.

10 A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool. (KJV)

Our Father,

Thank you from bringing peace into our lives and for keeping strife far away from us. Thank you for making us part of your family through faith in your son Jesus; for giving us an undeserved inheritance that lasts forever.

Help remind us O Lord to treat others with respect; to treat the poor the same as those who are rich. Continue to test our hearts and see if any wrong is found therein; please discipline us and show us the way to change our attitudes and bring them closer to your Word and teaching.

Thank you for our children and grandchildren; they bring joy to our lives but also responsibility. We pray for their salvation; that they may respond to our testimonies, your teaching and your Grace, and have faith in your Son Jesus.

Help us to always speak the truth and avoid deception; We want our speech to be ever loving and helpful to others. Let us always be a good example of your teaching and Word to others.

Meanwhile, we except and hope for your correction when we deviate from your direction and righteous path; We want to change those things in our lives that do not reflect your teaching and love.

Thank you for your ever present Father’s love and care for us.

In Jesus Name, Amen.
