Jesus Standing at The Door

20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Our Father;

Thank you for sending your Holy Spirit to help us be overcomers like your son Jesus. Please help us to hear the words here spoken to the churches and inspire us to appropriate all of the counsel that pertains to us and our own churches.

More importantly let us receive your son Jesus who is continuingly knocking at the door of our churches and us personally. In the past we have usually applied this scripture of Jesus knocking at the door to those who are unsaved. But in context, this is scripture is for those of us who already believe. We have accepted everything about your son but help us to see that we need to have an ever closer continual relationship with him daily.

Help us to receive the call of Jesus in this scripture to open the door of our hearts, minds, and bodies to be with him; substituting our religion for real relationship and an ever abiding intimacy with him in all we do. We are thankful that he really does want to be with us and we are in awe of this promise here that if we open the door he will actually come in and ‘sup with us’ personally.

We thank you for your son Jesus and the promises here in your word.

In his name we pray, Amen.
